About the Nissan Silvia S15
When Nissan retired the S-platform in August 2002, the S15 Silvia was the note it went out on — a tighter, more focused final act after a decade and a half of the nameplate. Sold from 1999, the S15 split into two characters: the Spec-R, with the turbocharged 2.0-liter SR20DET rated at 250 PS and the first six-speed manual ever fitted to a Silvia, and the naturally-aspirated Spec-S with the 165 PS SR20DE. Both keep the front-engine, rear-drive layout and a limited-slip differential that made the chassis a drift and grip-driving benchmark.
Under the rolling 25-year rule the S15's eligibility follows the build plate: 1999-through-2001 cars can be imported today, while the last examples built in 2002 become legal in 2027.
Among Silvia generations the S15 commands the highest prices, and within it the turbo Spec-R trades clearly above the naturally-aspirated Spec-S.
