About the Mazda RX-7
Mazda's RX-7 is the definitive rotary sports car, spanning three generations: the SA/FB (1978-1985), the FC3S (1985-1991), and the icon of the line, the FD3S (1991-2002). The FD is the one importers chase — a front-mid-mounted 1.3-liter 13B-REW twin-rotor running the world's first mass-produced sequential twin-turbo system, making 255 PS early and 280 PS by the end, in a beautifully balanced rear-drive coupe. Light weight, near-perfect weight distribution, and the unmistakable rotary character keep demand high and clean examples scarce.
On eligibility, the FB and FC generations are all US-legal now; the FD3S runs on the rolling 25-year schedule, with 1991-2001 cars importable today and the final 2002 builds — including the last Spirit R editions — eligible in 2027.
