About the Toyota Supra
Few engines carry the reputation the Supra's 2JZ does, and it is the fourth-generation A80 (1993-2002) that made the legend. Its 3.0-liter 2JZ-GTE — a cast-iron, sequentially twin-turbocharged straight-six rated at 280 PS in Japan and famous for swallowing far more — turned the JZA80 into a tuning icon and a genuine 1990s supercar rival. The earlier A70 generation (1986-1993) laid the groundwork with its 1JZ and 2JZ sixes, but it is the A80's combination of that near-indestructible block, an available six-speed Getrag manual, and timeless styling that anchors demand today.
The A70 is comfortably past 25 years old and fully importable; the A80 runs on the rolling schedule — 1993-through-2001 builds are legal now, with the final 2002 JDM cars becoming eligible in 2027.
Clean A80 twin-turbo cars, especially six-speed manuals, sit near the top of the JDM market and command a steep premium over the naturally-aspirated and earlier A70 Supras.
