About the Toyota Caldina
Caldina is Toyota's compact wagon, and the versions importers care about are the turbocharged GT-T and GT-Four models that borrowed the Celica GT-Four's hardware. The ST215 generation (1997-2002) runs the fourth-gen 3S-GTE, a 2.0-liter turbo four making roughly 260 PS, driving all four wheels — essentially a practical estate wrapped around a rally-bred drivetrain. The later ST246 GT-Four (2002-2007) kept the concept alive with a revised 3S-GTE. People buy them as a sleeper: family-hauler shape, MR2/Celica engine, and a huge aftermarket.
For US buyers, the ST215 GT-T is reaching 25-year eligibility now — 1997-2001 builds are legal, with later cars following on the rolling schedule — while the ST246 GT-Four is still some years out.
